[Review]
Posts marked and categorized “[Review]” are my humble attempt at something resembling a book review. These are not meant to be critical. I only share if I was ministered to by the book, think it worth sharing, and think you might actually read it. I try to commend the book to you mostly by sharing the authors own words.
I never recommend difficult, overly academic, or technical books. This service is for the layman, not the scholar. Still to help you in judging the readability of I have inserted a simple rating system ranging from 1-3 explained below.
1 = Light reading, think Jerry Bridge’s The Pursuit of Holiness or C.J. Mahaney’s Living the Cross Centered Life
2 = The middle weight division consisting of works like R.C. Sproul’s The Holiness of God or Tim Keller’s The Reason for God
3 = Heavy lifting (remember this does not mean ‘professional) like John Piper’s Desiring God or John Stott’s The Cross of Christ.
If the rating system is lost on you because you haven’t read any of these I intentionally picked works that I think every Christian should read regardless of difficulty. You should always push yourself to read through books that stretch you. Thus I leave it to you to rectify any vagaries inherent in my overly simplistic system.
